BMHS Continuing Education Cisco Networking CCNA Routing and Switching

Bishop McNamara is offering continuing education classes for the Cisco Networking Routing and Switching preparing the recipients for Cisco CCNA certification. There are four courses, “Introduction to Networks”, “Routing and Switching Essentials”, “Scaling Networks” and “Connecting Networks”. The courses will be offered in the above sequence and one for each school year quarter.

Armchair Pilgrimage for Grade 10 Theology Classes

On Friday, May 16, Charles and Elizabeth McClain (father and step-mother of teacher Mr. Justin McClain '00) visited Mr. McClain's three Theology 10 classes to provide his students with a photographic "armchair pilgrimage" to Christian sites in the Holy Land, Italy and the Vatican.  

Spring Break 2014: Italy

Mr. Geoffrey Molchan (Social Studies), along with Modern & Classical Language Chair Señora Georgina Gomez-Bozzo, Associate Principal & Dean of Students Mr. Reginald Brady, Associate Principal & Academic Dean Mrs. Mindi Imes de Duclos and 20 students from Bishop McNamara High School ventured to Italy over the 2014 Easter Break. 

Our students experienced the great historical wonders of Florence, Venice, Assisi, Rome, and ancient Pompeii.

Two BMHS Sophomores Receive Full Scholarships to AdCamp

Sophomores Brieanna Bowman and Alonzo Farley have been accepted to AdCamp of the American Advertising Federation, a summer enrichment program that teaches students about an advertising college major, careers in advertising and what it takes to market different products and services to consumers. Both students received full scholarships to this competitive, unique and exciting program.

According to the American Advertising Federation, AdCamp is more than just classroom lectures:

Science Classes Learn Mammal Anatomy by Fetal Pig Dissection

The fetal pig dissection lab is the final lab representing the cumulative material learned in the Honors and College Prep Anatomy and Physiology classes. The students, under the direction of Science Department chair and teacher, Ms. Denise Kazimer, previously dissected a sheep brain, a cow eye, and a sheep heart.

Fine Arts Students Receive Awards for Excellence at Kennedy Center

Several Bishop McNamara High School students were selected in recognition of artistic excellence by The National Society of Arts and Letters Excellence in the Arts Program: Z'ane Davis-Smith '15, Ceandria Mars '15, Kevin Glotfelty '15, and Rochell Ann Yacat '15.  They were honored and received their awards and certificates on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at a ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Our congratulations to them all!

St. Joseph's Program Receives Funds from CBN

Congratulations to Bishop McNamara High School St. Joseph Program, the Catholic Business Network (CBN) Grant Recipient for April. On hand to accept the check for $1,500 was Program Director, Elaine Greene. From left to right, Mr. John Kincaid, CBN President; Mr. Marco Clark '85, President/CEO of Bishop McNamara; Mayra Fernandez-Martinez '16; Mrs. Elaine Greene, St. Joseph Program Director; and Dr. Robert Van der Waag, Principal of BMHS. The funds will be used for technology to benefit the St. Joseph Program.

Fine Arts Invited to National Society of Arts & Letters Excellence in Arts

Bishop McNamara High School was invited to participate in The National Society of Arts and Letters Excellence in the Arts Program.

The Fine Arts Faculty agreed upon the following student awards:

Congratulations to Bishop McNamara High School educators, Victor Shin, Michael Pozniak, and Nicole Dado, who have been awarded fellowships this summer for travel, cultural experiences and educational studies around the globe.
