Applications Process

⇒For Students in the 8th Grade who attend Catholic Elementary Schools in the Archdiocese of Washington:
  • Complete and submit an Online Application* along with a non-refundable $50.00 application fee and student's essay to the Admissions Office by December 15th.
  • Complete a Records Release Form; send it to BMHS. Records should include the following:
    • Archdiocese of Washington Catholic High School Student Information Form
    • Copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and education plans, if applicable
    • Be sure to list Bishop McNamara High School as one of your co-choices on the Archdiocesan High School Placement Test (HSPT) which is taken at your school in December.
    • 8th grade students with Learning Differences, go to St. Joseph Program for more information.
⇒For Students in the 8th Grade who are homeschooled, who attend public school or a private non-Catholic school:
  • Complete and submit an Online Application* along with a non-refundable $50.00 application fee, copy of Records Release Form and student's essay to the Admissions Office by December 15th.
  • Complete an additional Records Release Form, send it to the student's school, and arrange to have all academic records sent to the Admissions Office by December 15th including the following:
    • Report cards for 7th and 8th grades
    • Results of standardized achievement and aptitude tests
    • Records of attendance and disciplinary actions
    • If applicable, copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and educational plans
  • Arrange to have two completed Teacher Evaluation Forms from current teachers of core subjects (Math, English, Science, or Social Studies) sent to the Admissions Office by December 15th.
  • Register starting in November for the High School Placement Test (HSPT) which is given in December. You can register with the Catholic Schools Office ADW Catholic Schools Office. Be sure to list Bishop McNamara High School as one of your co-choices on the HSPT. Register early to obtain your desired test date/location. To obtain further information about the test, go to Washington Archdiocesan Admissions Test (the HSPT), email HSPT@adw.org or call the Catholic Schools Office at 301-853-4518.
  • 8th grade students with Learning Differences, go to St. Joseph Program for more information.
⇒For Transfer Students in 9th or 10th Grade who attend Catholic, private or public high schools:
  • Complete and submit an Online Application* along with a non-refundable $50.00 application fee, a copy of the Records Release Form, and student's essay to the Admissions Office by March 15th.
  • Complete an additional Records Release Form, send it to the student's school, and arrange to have all academic records sent to the Admissions Office by March 15th including the following:
    • For transfer students in 9th grade: Report cards for 8th and 9th grades
    • For transfer students in 10th grade: Report cards for 9th and 10th grades
    • Results of standardized achievement and aptitude tests
    • Records of attendance and disciplinary actions
    • If applicable, copies of psycho-educational evaluations, testing and educational plans
  • Arrange to have two completed Teacher Evaluation Forms from current teachers of core subjects (Math, English, Science, or Social Studies) sent to the Admissions Office by March 15th.
  • For students in the 9th grade, register starting in November for the High School Placement Test (HSPT) which is given in December at several location throughout the Washington, DC area including Bishop McNamara. You can register with the Catholic School Office at ADW Catholic Schools Office. Be sure to list Bishop McNamara High School as one of your co-choices on the HSPT. Register early to obtain your desired test date/location.
