Philosophy

The Bishop McNamara High School basketball team is a group of young men dedicated to the core principles of individual responsibility, teamwork, school spirit and academic success. The program is designed to provide the student-athletes a lifelong example of how to conduct oneself in the community. Led by the example of coaches and school leaders, through Christ, the basketball team strives to achieve individual and team goals while displaying sound skills and discipline as they proudly represent Bishop McNamara High School on and off the court. The development and enhancement of character, sportsmanship, faith, and self-discipline for lifetime achievement is essential to success.

Talib Zanna '09 Breaking Records in ACC Tournament

Talib Zanna '09 scores 19 points and grabs career high 21 rebounds, which is the 3rd all time in the 61 years of the ACC Tournament. He set a 61 year old ACC Tournament Record for offensive rebounds in a game with 10. Pitt faces Colorado at 1:40 pm on Thursday on TBS.

McNamara Hoops Upsets St. John's in WCAC Quarterfinals

The McNamara Hoops' upset of St. John's was one for the record books. With no starting seniors, the young team beat a team that, most recently, had been ranked 11th in the entire country. The team went on to face Paul VI in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference semifinals at American University that ended in a loss for the Hoops at 67 to 41. Watch the video below and make sure to come out and support the Mustangs next year! ‪

Talib Zanna '09: Making all his families proud!

Class of 2009 graduate, Talib Zanna, has the support of all his families. His Nigerian birth family, his Bishop McNamara High School family, including Marty Keithline and his host family, the Bazilios, and now his U of Pitt family: all have given Talib the love and support he has needed to grow into the 6'9" 230 lb student-athlete ready for NBA that he has dreamed to be.
