The BMHS Softball program has two levels of play: Varsity and Junior Varsity. The team rosters carry between 12 and 15 players on each team. Both teams practice on campus after school on our softball field. The team competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), an extremely competitive conference in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Graduates from this conference have gone on to play college softball at all levels.

Varsity and JV teams are selected based on the following criteria:

  • Tryout performance and speed.
  • Desire and responsibility
  • Aggressive team play and individual play
  • Coachability
  • Athletic ability and coordination
  • Softball knowledge
  • Team needs

2014 All-Gazette First Team Awards for Varsity Softball

Laurie Irons, a Bishop McNamara Sophomore and pitcher for the Varsity Softball team, was selected to be a member of the 2014 All-Gazette First Team.  Laurie tallied 153 strikeouts with less than 10 walks all season to keep the young varsity team competitive.  Congratulations, Laurie.
